    What You're Going to Need!

A table with a bottle of wine, a bottle of water, a bottle of St Germain, a bowl with limes and Thai basil. A muddler, wine opener, a cocktail shaker, and a shot glass.
    • St. Germain - this sweet elderflower liquor adds the right amount of sweetness.
    • Dry white wine - we used trader joes pinot grigio (less expensive wine is perfect for mixing in a cocktail) but Sauvignon Blanc would work just as well.
    • Sparkling water - we used Pellegrino; however, any unflavored sparkling water will work.
    • Lime juice - fresh lime juice makes all of the difference in flavor.
    • Thai basil - we are in love with the fresh and sweet flavors this delightful herb adds to this cocktail, but Italian basil would substitute nicely.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Chef Tip

If you don't have St. Germain handy you could use simple syrup. You could even flavor it with edible flowers from your herb garden! Get creative and use what you have. A sprig of mint or a sprig of rosemary would be a delightful substitution for the Thai basil.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Lime juice - fresh lemon juice could be substituted if you prefer the flavor.
    • Mocktail - the St. Germain and white wine can be eliminated and substituted with simple syrup flavored with elderflower extract or any edible flowers from your herb garden!
    • Thai basil - can be substituted with Italian basil.
    • Sparkling water - try using club soda or even tonic water for a different take on this cocktail.
    • Coupe glass - if you don't have a coupe glass you can use a white wine glass, a rocks glass, or even a Collins glass, chilling the glass with fresh ice before pouring is always a nice touch!

    Storage & Helpful Hints

For your next garden party go ahead and mix a batch of the St. Germain, Thai basil and lime juice. Keep it sealed in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you are ready add the white wine, pour over fresh ice and top with a splash of soda water, garnish and enjoy!
